Dr. David York
ARTISTIC Director
Dr. David York began his career conducting Portland Gay Men’s Chorus in 1982 and since then he has conducted and composed music for, and even formed, many performing groups including the award-winning David York Ensemble, adult amateurs in various configurations (Aurora Women’s Chorus, satori men’s chorus, and Bells of the Cascades to name a few), children’s choirs from ages 5 to 18 (Portland Boychoir, Ovation Show Choir, The Olde Boys of Houston Boychoir), and numerous church choirs. Don’t be fooled by his decades of experience, David York brings a youthful zeal to his work with queer choruses.
Dr. York holds music degrees from Oklahoma City University (B.Mus. in voice performance and vocal music education), Portland State University (Masters in conducting and vocal pedagogy), and University of Oregon (PhD in composition and theory). His large-scale works include an opera entitled “Jonathan and David;” a ballet for strings, harp, and two male dancer“Apollo and Hyacinth;” a winter solstice show called “Return of the Light” that performed throughout December to capacity audiences in the Oregon Planetarium for over ten years, an oratorio honoring the earth “Mother of Us All;” and several commissioned works for men’s chorus including “Requiem” which gives homage to people who died of AIDS and “Millennium Mosaic”, an oratorio giving voice to queer youth. David moved from Oregon to Texas in 2019 and currently works as Director of Music at First Congregational Church.
Buck Moore
Executive Director
William Buck Moore is an accomplished nonprofit executive and arts administrator with more than 20 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit, arts, hospitality, and faith-based sectors. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the Victoria Bach Festival, where he oversaw operations, fundraising, finances, and community engagement for one of Texas's premier classical music festivals.
Throughout his career, Moore has built strong partnerships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community organizations while managing budgets, producing large-scale events, and leading organizational growth. Earlier leadership roles in hospitality and community outreach, along with more than 25 years of experience in music ministry, have shaped his collaborative leadership style and commitment to serving diverse communities.
A native of Mustang, Oklahoma, Moore holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Church Music from Oklahoma Baptist University and completed postgraduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is passionate about arts education, community engagement, and creating meaningful experiences through the performing arts.
