Our Mission

We will be voices of pride, using the power of music to make a positive change in our community.

Our Core Values

We have PASSION.

We strive for musical excellence and are committed to improvement and learning. We enthusiastically advocate for LGBTQ+ community. We inspire creativity and critical thinking. We believe in our power to bring social change.

We show RESPECT.

We respect the history of the LGBTQ+ community and the tradition of the gay choral movement. We choose to celebrate, rather than denigrate. We support composers, arrangers, and performers.

We are INCLUSIVE.

We are committed to providing a safe space for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community. We are a diverse group committed to embracing new points of view. We welcome all and do not discriminate.

We promote DIGNITY.

We support the proposition that all people are created equal. We support everyone’s right to live outwardly as their authentic selves and acknowledge the courage it takes to do so. We acknowledge and honor our differences.

We are ENGAGED.

We listen to our members, our audience, and each other to understand issues and address needs. We give our members the tools they need to succeed. We are an involved member of the community, and we strive to give back. We have fun together!

Our Story

Pride Chorus Houston was founded as the Montrose Singers, Inc. in November of 1979. Led by founding director Andy Mills, the Houston based men’s chorus met with early successes marked by lavish productions at the Tower Theatre, performing with as many as 80 singing members. The chorus became the Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston and later expanded by adding the Bayou City Women’s Chorus, under the umbrella of Bayou City Performing Arts. We now perform as Pride Chorus Houston: an inclusive SATB chorus for the LGBTQ+ community where everybody belongs.

PCH has been termed “the best face of diversity in Houston”. PCH, widely respected for community leadership in inclusion and diversity, continues to provide opportunities for a wide range of Houstonians, fulfilling its mission of making a positive change in our community. Again in 2012, BCPA was named the Favorite Community Organization by OutSmart Magazine.

Singing for community.
